Complete the Certificate in as Few as Two Semesters
Students can complete the program in as few as two semesters, beginning in fall and continuing through spring. You can also take a longer path or complete the certificate part time.
Certificates | Biomechanics Graduate Certificate
Develop a deeper understanding of biomechanics and musculoskeletal function through a fully online graduate certificate from the University of Mississippi. Designed for professionals with backgrounds in engineering, kinesiology, human movement sciences, health, medicine and related fields, the program connects biomechanical principles with real-world applications.
Study topics ranging from musculoskeletal anatomy and human movement to injury mechanisms, biomechanics instrumentation and applied data collection. Complete your coursework on your own schedule within each 16-week semester while building knowledge that can support your work in health, sport, fitness, ergonomics and related fields.

The Biomechanics Graduate Certificate is designed for individuals seeking an advanced understanding of biomechanics and musculoskeletal functionality. The program is 100% online, making it possible to pursue graduate-level study without geographic restrictions while continuing to work or meet other commitments.
Students build knowledge across a broad range of biomechanics applications, from sport and human performance to aging and occupational settings. Coursework also introduces biomechanics instrumentation and applied data collection, giving students the opportunity to connect foundational concepts with hands-on data and interpretation.
Flexible Online Learning
Complete the Biomechanics Graduate Certificate 100% online while balancing your professional and personal commitments. Coursework is self-paced within each 16-week semester, giving you flexibility in when you complete your work.
Students can complete the program in as few as two semesters, beginning in fall and continuing through spring. You can also take a longer path or complete the certificate part time.
Study biomechanics across sport, aging and occupational settings while developing skills in musculoskeletal function, injury mechanisms, instrumentation and human movement.
The Biomechanics Graduate Certificate follows a four-course sequence that moves from foundational biomechanics and musculoskeletal movement to clinical applications, injury biomechanics, applied biomechanics and measurement.
The program is self-paced within each 16-week course. Because the first two courses must be completed before the final two courses, students enter the program in the fall semester. Foundations of Biomechanics and Musculoskeletal & Movement Biomechanics are offered in fall, followed by Clinical Applications & Injury Biomechanics and Applied Biomechanics and Measurement in spring.
The curriculum is designed to strengthen your knowledge and prepare you to apply biomechanical principles through:
Build a foundation in the principles of biomechanics that support the study of human movement and musculoskeletal function.
Explore the relationship between musculoskeletal structures and movement while applying biomechanical principles to human movement.
Examine how biomechanics can be applied to clinical settings and the study of injury mechanisms across different populations.
Apply biomechanical principles through instrumentation, data collection and interpretation. The course provides an opportunity to work with hands-on data and applied biomechanics measurement.
