This newly-launched online program is fully accredited and recognized as a component of the School of Pharmacy’s online M.S. in Dietary Supplements and Medical Cannabis, which was announced in 2023.
Credits earned from this one-year certificate program can be applied toward the online master's program, offering an easy transition to advanced education.

This program is designed for entry-level and mid-level professionals looking to advance in opportunities in manufacturing, research and development, regulatory affairs, quality control, formulation, and analytical chemistry, including:
- Professionals in the dietary supplements and nutraceuticals industries seeking advanced knowledge
- Scientists and researchers interested in natural products and phytochemistry
- Regulatory affairs specialists looking to deepen their understanding of industry regulations
- Working professionals aiming to transition into the dietary supplements or research & development fields
Dietary Supplements Certificate Curriculum
This fully online certificate features classes that explore:
- Subjects such as natural products, phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology.
- Research and development.
- Analytical techniques.
- Policy and formulation in the dietary supplements and nutraceuticals industries.
Each 3-credit hour course is completed in 6 weeks.
Students choose four of five courses to tailor the program to their goals:
- BMS 652 Regulation of Dietary Supplements, First Fall
- BMS 653 Formulation and Manufacturing of Dietary Supplements, Second Fall
- BMS 651 Fundamentals of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, First Spring
- BMS 654 Identification and Authentication of Dietary Ingredients, Second Spring
- BMS 655 Pharmacology and Toxicology of Dietary Supplements, First Summer
Admission
We are now accepting applicants to begin in Fall 2025.
We offer rolling admissions with 3 possible program start dates: Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.

Transition to the Online M.S. in Dietary Supplements and Cannabis Program
Students who complete the online Graduate Certificate can apply their 12 hours earned from certificate courses toward our online M.S. in Dietary Supplements and Cannabis degree.
Once admitted to the certificate program, students will need to meet all remaining requirements for the M.S. degree.
